Description
Welcome to the JCCC Black Student Union! The BSU meets every Wednesday at 2 pm in GEB 258. The BSU is an active, engaged, and fun student-led organization and welcomes all interested students to join our club. Besides weekly meetings, the BSU hosts campus events, collaborates with other clubs, engages in community projects, educates members about African-American history and culture past and present, hosts fun social events, and provides students with an opportunity to learn, lead, and grow. Our goal is to make a positive impact across our campus and our community and to lift each other up through leadership, academic success, and friendship.
The mission of the Black Student Union is to improve the experience of black students and other students of color while inspiring a welcoming environment and cultivating a support group across the College community.
Purpose: The Black Student Union of Johnson County Community College was established to improve the experience of African Americans and other minority groups through its founding principles: education, community engagement, activism, networking, and unity. We are interested in cultivating a campus environment in which Black students feel comfortable interacting with one another across social subgroups to form new and lasting relationships.
Membership: While the Black Student Union was created for black students and students of color, membership is open to all students.
