Description

This summer, Kansas Studies Institute, Access Services, and the Collaboration Center (CoLab) are hosting the exhibit “Fighting for Equality: The Disability Rights Movement in Kansas and Missouri”. This exhibit chronicles efforts in Kansas and Missouri to expand disability rights, culminating in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. Missourian Gini Wilson Laurie and Kansas Senator Robert “Bob” Dole both played significant roles in expanding disability rights in our region and the nation.

You will be able to explore a rich history, experience hands on tools, and utilize resources to incorporate into your classroom. Visit the CoLab (OCB 100), Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm, from June 2 -July 31 to see the exhibit.

If you are bringing a group, want to visit after hours, or have questions, please contact the CoLab at 913-469-2522 or collaboration@jccc.edu for assistance.
